We lay face to face in her dimly lit room.
Her breath is sweet and blue eyes piercing through me as her hand gently caresses my face.
The corners of her lips turn upward into a smile.
Barely audible, she speaks.
Mommy, I love you.
Mommy, you are so beautiful.
My heart stops, I hold my breath and close my eyes.
I inhale.
With a long, quiet and deep breath, I take all of her in and then open my eyes.
I love you too. You are beautiful my love. You are strong.
She smiles and giggles sweetly as she moves her hand from my face, tucking her tiny fingers under her chin as her eyes close and sleep blankets her.
She knows nothing about Epilepsy. She knows nothing about what her recent diagnosis will bring and frankly, we don’t know either.
We may be entirely unsure what the future holds, how her life may or may not be impacted or what restrictions await on the horizon.
However, in the face of all that is unknown, we do know that we will continue to face each glorious sunrise as an opportunity. An opportunity to live that day with love, compassion, perseverance, gratitude and a spoonful of humor to keep us on our toes.
Life.
Inhale deeply all that it offers us.
She knows nothing but love.
sometimes, its all we need to know.
A whole lotta love. XOXOXO
She is in your loving arms, and she already has a wonderful foundation as well. Challenges ahead that you are and have already taught her to meet. I had the exact words when I was driving to the office this morning, and they have escaped me.
This could be a page in a book
“We may be entirely unsure what the future holds, how her life may or may not be impacted or what restrictions await on the horizon.
However, in the face of all that is unknown, we do know that we will continue to face each glorious sunrise as an opportunity. An opportunity to live that day with love, compassion, perseverance, gratitude and a spoonful of humor to keep us on our toes.”
And this too
“Life.
Inhale deeply all that it offers us.
”
So glad of her being such a blessing to you, and to so many others.
